This fine silvered and gilt bronze table is after an original by the French sculptor José-Maria David. The table features a gilt bronze frame profusely moulded with relief foliate detailing. Each leg terminates in a naturalistic foot, and each is surmounted by a curved palm frond. The similarly modelled stretcher is adorned with silvered bronze animals, including hippos, lions, monkeys, and birds, all of which seek water at a watering hole. The table is surmounted by a glass top.
