Moorish style silvered metal antique Syrian lantern

The lantern is formed entirely of pierced and silvered metal. The body is formed of eight galleries of geometrically patterned panels which begin at the top with the smallest, and grow wider toward the centre, then recessing again towards the lower tip. The broadest central gallery is decorated with twelve projecting columns, and the entire lantern terminates at the bottom with a brass finial.
