Neoclassical style antique gilt bronze French chandelier

This impressive, twenty-eight light chandelier is designed in a grand, French Neoclassical style. The piece has been finely crafted from gilt bronze (ormolu) and decorated with cut glass pendants. The chandelier features a fluted collar, which is set with scrolls, hung with cut glass chains and prisms. The body dish is topped by sculptural putti, playing musical instruments. Below, the chandelier’s column is mounted with an oval medallion, containing a classical style profile portrait. The twenty-eight scrolled branches terminate in wide drip-pans, urn-like capitals and candle tubes. Cut glass chains and prisms are suspended from the branches, and a large, cut glass bottom ball hangs from the chandelier’s column.
