£24,000
This magnificent and grand bed is crafted from the finest of materials in the timeless Neoclassical style by one of the nineteenth century’s best producers.
This superb bed is crafted in the Neoclassical style, and was produced by Grohé Frères, one of the leading producers of luxury furniture during the period of Napoleon III.
The bed is crafted from wood, ormolu, and velvet. The shaped headboard features a wooden frame centred with a red velvet panel finished with floral motifs, with ormolu mounts in the Neoclassical style adorning the wood: the posts are topped with ormolu pinecone finials, while the crown is centred with a pierced tied ribbon crest. The footboard of the bed is similarly adorned, with the wooden veneer arranged in a manner to display the grain of the wood, and the board mounted with ormolu rosettes and beading. The footboard is flanked by twin columns, which are surmounted by ormolu pinecone finials and draped with ormolu garlands. The frame of the bed is similarly adorned with red velvet and ormolu, and the bed is raised on four ormolu mounted toupie feet.
