Description

Dating to the early twentieth century, these curious pieces, an antique leather travel case, and a silk top hat, are fascinating mementos of early English style and travel history.

They consist of a small, rectangular leather travel case, and a fine silk-lined top hat, initialed, and stamped for Tress & Co., world renowed makers operating out of Southwark, London, from the mid-nineteenth century until 1953. The case closes from the top with a latch mechanism, and still bears the signs of many a travel stamp, and the scribbled on address of the owner, a Mr Arkwright, and the hat is embossed with his initials, 'D.L.A,' and a stamp for the maker.

Curious pieces of English travel history, and from the collection of an English gentleman, these fine pieces will be of interest to any with a love of pre-war England.
