The centrepiece is the work of the important French metalworker Henri Picard. It takes the form of a cone shaped cut glass vase decorated with flowers and foliage, within a gilt bronze stand mounted on either side with dog figures. The stand which supports the vase features acanthus leaf, foliage and dolphin mask decorations on a hexagonal base with curved edges and scrolled feet. The centrepiece is marked 'H. PICARD' to the base.
