This elegant mantel clock, which is crafted from the timeless combination of malachite and ormolu, was created during the period of Louis XVI in the Neoclassical style.
This fine mantel clock was created during the period of Louis XVI, though the malachite veneer is a later addition. The clock features a malachite base with rounded sides applied with ormolu Neoclassical style mounts and raised on ormolu toupie feet. The base supports the plinth-form malachite clock case, which is set with a circular white enamel dial contained within an ormolu bezel. The plinth-form case is adorned below with a pierced ormolu grill and surmounted above with an ormolu cornucopia finial. The case is flanked by twin decorative pyramidal elements, each crafted from malachite, raised on an ormolu socle, and adorned with Neoclassical style ormolu mounts.
