Supported upon a spiraling stem, and a foliate tripod feet with rocaille to the base, the threaded stem holding aloft a bright white marble tray turns into a pure cyclindrical moutns to hold aloft the lamp and shade, and makes a grand, elegant furnishing to a worthy interior.
The Belle Époque was a time of great artistic and creative production in France during peacetime in the 19th century. The market for decorative art flourished in particular, with a host earlier Royal styles seeing a resurgence, incorporated into new designs that combined modernity with Baroque or Neoclassical grandeur, as this fine ware does.
