This beautiful table is crafted from onyx, ormolu, and champlevé enamel in a wonderfully eclectic style that recalls elements of the Neoclassical, the Renaissance, and Islamic art and design.
The table features a rectangular tiered onyx base raised by four ornately scrolled and foliate ormolu feet. The base supports twin columns, the shafts of onyx, the capitals of ormolu, and the waisted bases of polychrome champlevé enamel. The columns support a rectangular onyx plateau.
The piece is marked ‘A.G.’ for Alphonse Giroux, and numbered ‘33’.
