The casket is of rectangular bombe form with a domed cover, and features a pierced ormolu frame. The frame has busts to the upper corners and is ornamented all over with C-scrolls and stylized acanthus leaf forms. The body of the casket is formed of curvaceous porcelain plaques held within the frame. The plaques are painted with small scenes of fetes galantes surrounded by scrolling gold patterns. The casket has a lined, fabric interior.
