The roll top desk is of traditional form, featuring a flat plateau above three frieze drawers, with the roll top set below. The roll top opens to reveal a leather-surfaced writing slide, a mirrored cubbyhole, and two flanking pairs of drawers. The shaped apron below is similarly adorned, featuring a central frieze drawer flanked by two pairs of narrower drawers. The desk is supported by cabriole legs.
The surfaces throughout are finished with fine marquetry of kingwood and mahogany, while the desk is profusely adorned with ormolu mounts, including ormolu borders, handles, and escutcheons, as well as ormolu espagnolette-like figures mounted to the shoulders of the cabriole legs. The legs terminate in ormolu foliate sabots.
The leather writing slide is gilt monogrammed ‘P.M.’, while one of the drawers is indistinctly inscribed.
