The table is crafted in the Louis XV style from elegant rosewood, mounted with gilt-bronze and marble to create a beautiful centrepiece, and wonderful demonstration of Rococo antique sophisticaion.
It features a veined grey circular marble top with an ormolu border which protrudes at four corner-points above the legs. Below the tabletop runs a circular rosewood frieze which is decorated with ormolu shells, acanthus leaves, scrolls and foliage. The table stands on four cabriole legs with ormolu paw feet.
Crafted in the early part of the twentieth century, like many a Belle Époque piece, it draws upon earlier regal styles and embellishes them, making an elegant, refined antique piece in fine Rococo style, taking after Louis XV period piece to offer a beautiful homely addition.
