This striking pedestal clock is wrought from pink-veined white onyx and ormolu (gilt bronze). The clock stands on a square white onyx plinth, raised on four gadrooned ormolu bracket feet, the sides of the plinth pierced with trefoil arches. The top edge of the plinth is mounted to each corner with a guilloché and gadrooned ormolu band, while the centre of each edge is mounted with an ormolu foliate cartouche. The onyx plinth is surmounted by an onyx slab, which is mounted on each side with ormolu ribbon-tied crossed laurel branches.
The rectangular vitrine body of the clock, glazed on all four sides, is articulated by four free-standing ormolu-mounted onyx columns, each column set atop a waisted ormolu base and surmounted by a stylised ormolu muqarnas capital—this inclusion betraying an Orientalist influence. The glazed sides of the body are set within ormolu arched frames, while the front side—the door—opens to reveal three shelves, two of which are glazed.
The vitrine-body of the clock is topped by a cubic white onyx case, mounted with ormolu foliate swags. The case is inset to the front with a clock dial, to one side with a barometer, and to the other side with a thermometer. The case is surmounted by an overhanging onyx cornice, which is edged with stylised ormolu drapery and foliate forms; the top of the case is flat, allowing the piece to serve as a pedestal.
