Description

This elegant pair of small, circular photo frames dates to the late 19th century and is crafted from gilt metal in a refined easel-back style. Drawing inspiration from the French Empire aesthetic popular between 1800 and 1815, the design reflects neoclassical influences, with decorative motifs rooted in ancient Roman and Greek art.

Notable features include the laurel wreath detailing—a timeless symbol of victory and prestige—subtly integrated into the frame’s ornamentation. Each frame currently houses a printed paper insert: one reproduces Sir Lawrence Dundas and his Grandson by Johann Zoffany (1733–1810), while the other displays a vintage-style clock face composed of playing cards.

The reverse of one of the frames is stamped ‘J.M. Paris’.

Rich in period charm and classical appeal, these antique-style frames offer a distinctive touch for any interior, making them ideal for collectors of 19th-century decorative arts or those seeking superb vintage home accents.
