These 19th century French vases are crafted in the style of the renowned Sèvres Manufactory. Their bodies are hand-painted with a selection of figurative scenes.
Each vase is topped by a blue porcelain lid with a gilded pinecone finial. The fluted necks feature gilded detailing and terminate with a beaded edge, adding interest to the design. Hand-painted scenes adorn the front of the vases, each one beautifully framed with gilt ornamentation spreading outwards towards the handles and the reverse. This is also heavily ornamented, but unusually only with gilt nature-inspired illustrations. Extending from the base of the bodies are prominent white porcelain and gilt acanthus leaves. The spreading sockle base is filled with vivid turquoise ground and gilt detailing.
The handles are beautifully executed from porcelain, a rare feature on this type of antique. They are shaped to depict a hanging garland between acanthus leaves and terminate with oval handles.
The vases stand on refined ormolu plinths, supported by winged lion paw-shaped feet.
Celebrating the work of the renowned French porcelain manufactory, these vases would look beautifully in the appropriate interior.
