Each of these fine vases depict an elaborate bunch of flowers, of various type and colour, grouped together to the front. The remainder of the vase bodies are decorated with interspersed sprigs of pink peonies of differing sizes, set against the milky opaline glass ground. The short circular bases are gilded, as are the finely waved rims.
These vases were made at Baccarat in France in the mid-19th century, circa 1850. At the time, Baccarat employed the highly sought after enameller Jean-François Robert (active 1843-1855), who specialised in designing and painstakingly painting elaborate scenes of flowers, such as the ones on these vases.
