The vases in this pair are formed from enamelled glass. The body of each vase, amphora shaped with a widely flared neck and a narrow stem curving into a circular foot, is profusely adorned with exquisitely rendered floral decoration. The decorative motif is that of the flower in bloom: white flower heads are interspersed among green, orange, and white leaves—the outlines of the flowers and leaves delineated with parcel gilding in imitation of cloisonné enamelling—all of which is set above a black ground. The rim of the vase, a band below the rim, the rim along the edge of the foot, and the protruding band at the top of the socle are parcel gilt.
Each vase is supported by a circular giltwood base, raised on three ball feet, which is decorated with a large bas-relief frieze of carved acanthus leaves.
