Pair of Danish silver sauce tureens by Jerome Paul Lenoir
£95,000
The truly exceptional tureens in this pair, each deftly crafted from solid silver, are magnificent examples of eighteenth-century Danish craftsmanship.
These wonderful silver tureens are by the silversmith Jerome Paul Lenoir, and were produced in Denmark at the mid-point of the eighteenth century. Each tureen is accompanied by a cover and a tray, each wrought in a conforming manner. The tureens are of typical form, each with an oval-profile body moulded with gadroons. The domed cover of each is stepped and is likewise moulded with gently undulating gadroons. Each tureen is mounted with twin silver handles, while the cover of each is surmounted by a finial designed as a piece of fruit, complete with stem. The oval tray below is similarly formed, each with twin handles.
The silver is fully hallmarked, while the front of each tureen is finished with an engraved coat of arms.
