Pair of five-light ormolu wall lights after Feuchère
After Feuchère, Pierre-François (French, 1737-1823)
£22,000
This magnificent pair of ormolu, or gilt bronze, wall lights is after a celebrated Louis XVI period original by the esteemed craftsman Pierre-François Feuchère.
The wall lights in this pair are after a model by the celebrated Louis XVI period French fondeur Pierre-François Feuchère, who ran one of the largest and most successful workshops for the production of luxury ormolu products during the 1770s and 1780s.
Each wall light features a ribbon-tied lyre-cast backplate, headed by a mask of Apollo within a sunburst and wrapped with floral sprays and fruiting laurel branches. The backplate of each wall light issues five acanthus-wrapped scrolled branches, each branch terminating in a spirally fluted nozzle and a fruiting vine drip pan.
The quality of the bronze casting is superb, and the gilding especially fine.
