Description

The beautiful vases in this pair are crafted from opaline glass, a type of opaque or semi-translucent glass that became enormously popular in France during the reign of Napoleon III in the 1850s and 1860s. The present vases are crafted from opaline glass of two colours: a lustrous milky white, and a vibrant bleu celeste (or sky blue) blue. Each vase features a white opaline glass bulbous body moulded with raised knobs in imitation of a pineapple, and each is surmounted by a blue glass neck, which flares into an undulating, curvy rim. Each delicate vase is raised atop a circular foot. The vases would look best elegantly holding single floral sprays.
