This fine pair of ewer-form vases is crafted from patinated and gilt bronze. Each ewer features a bulbous patinated bronze body, decorated in relief with a frieze depicting a Bacchanalia of putti. The patinated bronze body of each is supported by a gilt bronze foot, the waisted socle of which is adorned with embossed motifs of fruits and foliage. Each vase is surmounted by an ewer-form neck, likewise cast with berries and other emblems of fruitful abundance, and each is set with a sweeping gilt bronze handle topped with a cherub-form finial.
