Part of the extensive 'Fleurs des Siècles' range made by the Gorham manufactory company in Providence, Rhode Island, beautiful gilt-metal and enamelled flower basket models are exquisite objets d'art, blossoming with forget-me-nots of unfading beauty.
These fine pieces, and many other, were designed by the artist Jane Hutcheson who collaborated with the Gorham Company to create a number of pieces that bear the title 'Fleurs des Siècles.' 'Flowers of the Centuries', they were inspired by 18th century Vincennes porcelain flowers, historic decorative features that likewise replicated the natural beauty of a flower bouquet and turned it immortal.
These works combine beautiful jewel-like enamel flowers mounted on gilt-metal stems, laid in woven gilt baskets. They bear the original retailer's label and were retailed at the time as 'blooming beautifully from here to eternity to grow more precious with time.'
Each basket's dimensions are approximately: height 15cm, width 17cm, depth 13cm.
