The fine wall lights in this pair are crafted in the Baroque style from painted and parcel-gilt carved giltwood. Each wall light features an oval foliate backplate carved with acanthus leaf forms. The backplate of each issues a single scrolling light branch, which terminates below in a splayed acanthus leaf and above in a single candle holder. The surfaces throughout are deftly carved with grasping acanthus leaves, while elements and motifs have been parcel-gilt above the painted ground to accent their forms.
