Pair of large cast iron and ormolu seven-light candelabra
£45,000
This superb pair of truly monumental candelabra features cast iron stems modelled as Neoclassical putti, each of which holds a cornucopia issuing the ormolu light branches.
The monumental candelabra in this pair are crafted from cast iron and ormolu, or gilt bronze, in the Neoclassical style. Each candelabrum features a cast iron stem modelled as a putto, who stands in contrapposto and holds aloft a cornucopia. The putti stand on tapering cast iron bases, each base moulded with gadroons and finished above with an egg-and-dart frieze and below with a laurel wreath. The cornucopia held by each putto issues an ormolu candelabrum head, from which springs seven scrolling light branches, each adorned with acanthus leaves and foliate volutes.
