Description

The monumental candelabra in this pair are crafted from cast iron and ormolu, or gilt bronze, in the Neoclassical style. Each candelabrum features a cast iron stem modelled as a putto, who stands in contrapposto and holds aloft a cornucopia. The putti stand on tapering cast iron bases, each base moulded with gadroons and finished above with an egg-and-dart frieze and below with a laurel wreath. The cornucopia held by each putto issues an ormolu candelabrum head, from which springs seven scrolling light branches, each adorned with acanthus leaves and foliate volutes.
