The very large candelabra in this pair are crafted from malachite and ormolu, or gilt bronze, in the distinctive Rococo style.
Each candelabrum features a malachite body with a bulbous lower section and a long, slender neck. The malachite body is profusely adorned with superbly cast ormolu mounts. Each body is raised on four scrolled feet, each foot wrought in the manner of a Baroque-style dolphin. Between each foot, a large rocaille-like scallop shell motif forms an apron. The shoulders of the body of each are set with wonderfully ornate foliate ormolu mounts, a theme which continues in the mounts that adorn the neck.
Each candelabrum supports the springing of eight branches arranged over two tiers, each scrolled branch moulded with rich foliate detailing. The candleholder and drip pan of each branch are crafted in a similar Rococo style.
