Description

These beautiful pieces are a pair of large Rococo, Sèvres-style porcelain vases, painted with figurative scenes and mounted in elegant gilt bronzes against a rich dark blue lapis ground.

Of a particularly pleasing, elegant slender baluster form, they feature domed lids, in dark blue lapis ground porcelain mounted with brass pineapple finials and covers, with swirling floral designs around the neck and base, which is also placed on a stepped octagonal brass mount.

Beautiful descending floral swirling patterns flow from the top and base of the porcelain to frame the pictoral scenes in the centre of each vase, which are painted with scenes of ladies and cupid in an idyllic, ethereal classical garden. The paintings are signed 'Vr. Richard.'

The vases could be paired with the following piece, the same model but slightly larger, to make a wonderful three-piece decorative porcelain set, a delightful and exquisite example of Sèvres style art.
