Description

This fine pair of silver-plate trays is by the Lebanese silversmith firm Habis, which was the first silversmith to be founded in Lebanon, based in Beirut, after the country’s independence in 1943. The firm was established at the request of the country’s first president, Bechara El Khoury. Initially, Habis produced sterling silver only, but by the 1960s the firm had diversified into producing goods in silver-plate.

Each tray is rectangular in shape with canted corners, and each features a raised lip mounted at either short end with a rope-twist handle.

The underside of each is stamped ‘HABIS’.
