These exceptional commodes, with a rare and somewhat unusual design, were made in the Louis XV style in France in the nineteenth century. They are of curved bombe form, with indulgent, luxurious arcing sides, and are mounted with gilt-bronze decoration, and topped with a pair of marble surfaces.
They open up with a trio of cupboard doors with a large central section, and the faces of each door are encircled with ormolu, with further ornamental elements placed inbetween. The marble surfaces themselves are finely sourced and elegant pieces of material, their white is naturally adorned with a pleasing colouration and pattern, that harmonsiouly complements the commodes' carpentry and metalwork.
