This magnificent pair of vitrine pedestals exemplifies the very best of the Neoclassical style. Each pedestal is crafted from malachite and gilt-bronze and features a tapering square body, narrowing from top to bottom. The top of each features a flat plateau, below of which is a continuous, encompassing ormolu rinceaux frieze.
The body of each pedestal functions also as a vitrine. The glass sides, which are each set within an gilt frame and adorned with gilt-brozne floral and neoclassical motifs, allow full viewing of contained items. Each piece also opens to reveal two glass shelves. The bottom of each features an ormolu frieze which is moulded with Vitruvian scrolls, and each one is raised on four ormolu paw feet.
