Description

Each vase in the pair is of traditional form, featuring a flared circular foot below a waisted socle, rising into the body of the vase proper, which is surmounted by a narrow waisted neck and a flared rim. The surfaces of the vases are profusely adorned with cloisonné enamel designs, the decorative motifs drawn from the canon of Japanese design: dragons abound, as do birds and other abstract motifs. The surfaces also feature goldstone decoration, goldstone being a form of glittering, coloured glass suitable for use during the enamelling process.
