The wall brackets in this pair are crafted from porcelain in the manner of Meissen. Each bracket features a semi-circular plateau above a curved porcelain support, the support painted with a Rococo-style pastoral scene within a white gilt-edged cartouche above a green ground. The support of each is edged with encrusted floral garlands and is centred below with a sculptural putto seated atop a bed of porcelain leaves and flowers.
Each bracket features a large, mirrored backboard, the mirror encompassed by an arched-top porcelain frame: the sides of the frame resemble fluted pilasters entwined with encrusted floral sprays, while the arched top is centred with a crown finial and adorned with further encrusted polychrome flowers.
The brackets, whic are superb pieces of porcelain craftsmanship, are also wonderful examples of the playful charm of 19th century German Rococo.
The reverse of one bracket is affixed with a sticker from a previous owner, dated February 1892.
