Description

This beautiful pair of candelabra is crafted from patinated and gilt metal in the eclectic Napoleon III style, its influences ranging from the Baroque to the Neoclassical. The present pair demonstrate elements of the Rococo Revival, particularly in the inclusion of putti and the rich foliate casting evident throughout.

Each candelabrum is raised on an ornately shaped trefoil base, from which springs the shaped central column. This column is richly detailed with berries, foliage, and other motifs, most strikingly the grasping putto. Each column supports three foliate S-scroll branches, each branch terminating in a single candleholder, the leafy top of which is gilt. The central column of each candelabrum culminates in a blind candleholder tipped with a floral finial.
