This fine pair of frames is crafted from ormolu, or gilt bronze, in an eclectic Neoclassical style. Each frame features a highly ornate crown, modelled as a Baroque-style pediment. Furthermore, each is set to the bottom with an ornate grasping acanthus leaf finial, which functions as a single front foot. The ormolu surfaces of each frame are richly detailed, finished with garlands of flowers and other foliate motifs drawn from the Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical styles. Each frame is supported by an easel backing.
