Each patinated bronze torchère takes the form of a young boy, who holds aloft a flaming torch, crafted from clear glass. The figures adopt classical contrapposto poses, and they stand on bronze pedestals. These are decorated with classical female masks, and have been finished with a patinated, faux marble effect.
The torchères are stamped with the maker’s name, ‘A. Durenne’. Durenne was a famous metalworker, who was active in France in the mid-late 19th Century. His work is of a consistently high quality, and is now very collectable.
