The ovoid vases are crafted from hyalithe, an opaque black glass used to resemble porcelain, and are painted with striking colours including orange and turquoise, resembling enamel, in the Egyptian Revival style. Each vase features twin handles, heightened in gilt, and a gilt banding around the main body, decorated with hieroglyphs. There are further Egyptian style decorations on the necks of the vases in gilt. The vases are lidded and each lid is surmounted by a finial.
