Description

The vases are of matching design. They stand on circular lapis lazuli bases which are edged with ormolu (gilt bronze) beading. The vases feature ovoid lapis lazuli bodies which are set on splayed and fluted ormolu feet with foliate tops. Each vase is fitted with two ormolu handles, taking the form of leafy scrolled vines. Ormolu flower swags are draped between these handles. The vases’ bodies are topped by waisted ormolu necks which are decorated with guilloche patterns. The necks are surmounted by domed lapis lazuli covers, crowned by ormolu pinecone finials.
