Description

Designed after the Medici Vase, these wine coolers feature bell-shaped bodies on splayed feet. Their feet are edged with leafy scrollwork. The vases' bodies are fitted with two vine-like short, upward-turned handles. The wine coolers’ bodies are engraved with central stylised swan heads. They flare outwards slightly at their mouths, and are edged with stylised leafy scrollwork.

These wine coolers are inspired by the form of the Medici vase—an ancient bell-shaped krater that was rediscovered in Rome in the 16th Century. In the Renaissance period, the vase was placed in the Villa Medici, and it was later transferred to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, where it remains today.
