The pedestals are crafted from white onyx—a precious gemstone—with naturally occurring bands of orange. They are set on stepped cuboid onyx plinths which are edged with ormolu (gilt bronze) beading and placed on slim ormolu feet.
These pedestals take the form of classical columns. They stand on ormolu bases which are edged with laurel wreaths. The pedestals’ smooth cylindrical shafts are crafted from white onyx and they are topped by ormolu capitals. These capitals are decorated with rinceau bands and stylised acanthus leaves. The pedestals feature stepped, flat square onyx tops.
