Description

This pair of George III style pedestal cabinets is crafted from mahogany in a distinctly Classical manner. Each cabinet is rectangular in shape, standing on a stepped base with a foliate moulding to the upper edge.

Each cabinet features a large cupboard, opening to a single shelf and lockable by key, the door of the cupboard featuring a large foliate swag and tided ribbon decorative motif. Above the cupboard of each pedestal is a drawer, the front fluted and the centre mounted with a brass ring handle. The ring of this handle mimics a laurel garland, while the centre of the medallion is moulded with the motif of a Greek kylix form vase.

The top of each pedestal features a stepped podium, the concavity of the step moulded with acanthus leaf forms. Each piece in the pair thus functions as a cabinet and a pedestal.
