Description

Masterpieces of design, these magnificent Sèvres vases feature exquisite hand-painted mythological scenes. The paintings are signed 'E. Grisard', and show Classical gods and goddesses reclining in a beautiful serene celestial setting. The reverse of the vases show Classical ruins in misty, pale landscapes.

The covers of the vases are topped with pinecone finials. The rich blue ground porcelain on the necks and base-mounts are adorned with superb gilt bronze mounts and painted gilt decoration. While other models from Sèvres show such scenes, they are often smaller, and lack the oustanding handles and covers that this magnificent pair can show. Wonderful decorative pieces, few Sèvres style objects can rival these for majesty, artistry, and opulence.
