Featuring a beautiful combination of gilt-bronze mounts and bodies made from fluorspar, these superb candelabra were crafted in wonderful Neoclassical Louis XVI style in France in the late 19th century.
Each piece features a vase shaped stem with ormolu swags of flowers and five ormolu light branches in the shape of flowers. The bodies of the vases are formed of wonderfully sourced glass-green fluorite or fluorspar, a beautiful ornamental material, the impurities in the mineral giving it a stunning decorative pattern.
The gilt-bronze mounts, crafted in a Louis XVI Neoclassical style, with the square corners on the handles, arched-colonnade frieze around the neck, and wreath ribbons across the front of the body. The candelabra themselves are in the form of beautiful and dense gilt floral branches, finely sculpted in the round. The base of one of the pieces has been replaced by green onyx at some point in its history. Wonderfully ornate and crafted of fine materials, these are an excellent pair of lighting pieces indeed.
