Description

The models depict 'La Porteuse' (the water carrier) and 'Le Guerrier Arabe' (the Arab warrior). The female figure is shown clad in a robe tied with rope and a long flowing headdress, while the male figure is also shown with a flowing headdress, and is depicted holding his sash to his waist and exposing the handles of a sabre and a pistol. Each sculpture is standing on circular grassy naturalistic bases signed 'SALMSON'. The female figure was modelled in 1880 and the male figure in 1875.
