These French malachite vitrines (display cabinets) feature tall rectangular bodies, each of which is set on four slightly cabriole legs. The vitrines’ legs and shaped aprons feature ormolu scrolling foliage and cornucopia mounts. Their lower bodies contain closed compartments, their doors decorated with ormolu rosettes, set within foliage wreaths formed by crossed cornucopias. These are placed within rectangular ormolu frames. The upper body of each vitrine is glazed and contains three shelves—two of which are glass—which are placed within a floral golden fabric lined interior. The vitrines' glass front doors and sides are set within ormolu frames. Ormolu espagnolette sculptures, depicting female busts with foliate lower bodies, decorate the vitrines' top corners. Ormolu stringcourses run between these sculptures, and the vitrine tops are edged with bands of ormolu.
This pair of vitrines will look beautiful placed in a well-furnished living or dining room, study or library, either traditional or contemporary in its design.
