Description

This unusual and charming pair of ormolu (gilt bronze) candelabra features candleholders with S scrolled stems, the lower ends fashioned in the manner of grotesque dolphin’s head masks—a form popular in European furniture since Renaissance times. Each candelabrum is supported by an ormolu plinth form base, raised by four scrolled foliate feet. The S scrolled stem incorporates scrolling foliate elements, and culminates, above a scrolled tail, with seven candelabra branches, each branch imitating the form of floral shoots.
