Description

The paintings in this pair are executed in the rare and highly difficult reverse glass technique, known as verre églomisé. With this technique, foreground highlights must be painted first, with ‘deeper’ details applied after, in an exact reverse of traditional painting.

The paintings depict bouquets of flowers in vases and birds in the foreground and landscapes in the background. One of the pair depicts an island in the background, while the other depicts a park with a tree and a sculpture.

The paintings are contained within carved giltwood frames.
