Description

Finely painted with important female French aristocratic figures; the first depicting Princess Marie-Louise Thérèse of Savoy-Carignan, Princesse de Lamballe, (French, 1749-1792), confidante of Queen Marie Antoinette; the second depicting Louise de La Vallière, Madame de Lavallière (French, 1644-1710), a mistress of Louis XIV of France from 1661 to 1667; both plaques within gilt foliate reserves on a bleu celeste ground, the foliate cast ormolu frames with cherubs to the crest and aprons, titled and impressed to the reverse.
