Description

Scent bottles have been used for centuries to store and preserve delicate perfumes and essences. Artists and artisans, however, have used scent bottles to demonstrate creative and technical skill. As such, scent bottles not only hold beautiful perfumes, but the bottles also are often works of exceptional beauty.

The present pair of silver-gilt scent bottles is crafted in the Renaissance style. Each bottle features a circular foot below a waisted socle, which supports a bulbous body, neck, and surmounting cover. The surfaces throughout are profusely moulded with Renaissance style forms, including classicising busts, mythical beasts, and other motifs.

The bottles are marked to the base.
