These elegant Russian vases are made from cobalt blue glass mounted with ormolu bases, handles, and rims. The form of the vases is classically inspired, modelled on the ancient Greek amphora, with the glass bodies of each deftly cut with flutes and facets. On each vase, the square ormolu base is moulded with a foliate border, with a similar leafy design around the rim of the top, while the scrolled handles are finished with large rosettes and a variety of other Neoclassical forms, including grasping acanthus leaves.
The vases are superb examples of the Russian Neoclassical style.
