Description

This fine pair of claret jugs is by Bruckmann & Söhne, an important German producer of silver goods. Each jug in the pair features a pear-shaped glass body, the surface of which is cut with trellis-like lines and delicately etched with fine floral sprays. Each jug is mounted with a silver neck, the surface of which is profusely adorned with rich scrolling foliate moulding; the neck is topped with a hinged cover surmounted by an ornate flambeau finial. Each jug features a superbly formed scrolling silver handle, which springs from the top of the neck and rejoins the body with a silver band above the shoulder.

One of the jugs is hallmarked to the inner rim of the lower section of the cover.
