Description

This fine pair of Victorian period chairs is crafted from ebonised wood, ivory, and delicately embroidered upholstery. Each chair features four legs, each side pair of legs arranged in a curvilinear X-form with each pair of legs connected by a spindle stretcher. The twin back posts of each chair are fluted, with the flutes inlaid with ivory. The back posts are surmounted by ivory finials and are connected by two shaped and parcel gilt cross rails, the twin cross rails joined in turn by vertical ivory spindles. The tasselled seat of each chair is embroidered with floral sprays above the pink fabric ground.
